On March 21, President Samuel Martin-Barbero of Franklin University Switzerland visited SUES. President Yu Tao and Vice President Xia Chunming received the visiting guests at Conference Room 204 of the Administration Building. Chiefs from International Cooperation and Exchange Office and School of Management Studies attended the meeting.
President Yu Tao extended a warm welcome to President Samuel Martin-Barbero and his delegation and made a brief introduction of SUES and its achievements in recent years. President Yu indicated that the development strategy of internationalization, as one of the “three strategies” of SUES, is of great significance to the cultivation of high-level talents and the improvement of education quality. The University attaches great importance to the cooperation and exchanges with European universities, and the signing of the agreement on launching a double master’s degree program with Franklin University Switzerland will lay the foundation for a closer and friendly cooperation between the two sides. He hoped that the two universities could strengthen cooperation in the field of scientific research in the future and bring the partnership to a new stage of profound and high-quality development.
President Samuel Martin-Barbero expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm reception and expressed appreciation for the unique characteristics and educational achievements of SUES. He introduced the historical development and unique advantages of Franklin University in detail, and expressed that Franklin University has always been committed to serving a diverse student group and injecting vitality into the development of regional industries. Based on the similarities between the two sides in terms of discipline settings and teaching goals, he is confident about the achievements of SUES students studying at Franklin University.
At the meeting, President Yu Tao and President Samuel Martin-Barbero signed the Agreement on Double Degree Master’s Program between the two universities, which will provide faculty and students of School of Management Studies with a platform of more diversified international academic exchanges, thereby composing a new chapter for the mutual development of both sides in talent cultivation, scientific research and innovation.
During the visit, President Samuel Martin-Barbero and his delegation visited the relevant laboratories of SUES and had formed an in-depth understanding of the teaching and research status quo of the university. It is believed that with the joint efforts of both sides, the cooperation between the two universities will achieve more substantive results and open up a new situation for the implementation of the internationalization development strategy.
