SUES Student Won the First Prize in the 9th National Metallographic Skills Contest for College Students

Student Ma Yufang Won the First Prize  


From October 9th to 14th, hosted by the Teaching Guidance Committee for Materials Engineering of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and undertaken by Taiyuan University of Technology, the 9th Leica Cup National Metallographic Skills Contest for College Students was held in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. Ma Yufang, a student from School of Materials Engineering of SUES, won the first prize and another student Fan Qiyu won the third prize.

The number of participants in this contest hit a record high. They came from 290 universities including Tsinghua University, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University, etc. A total of 18 contestants from six universities in Shanghai participated in it, among whom Ma Yufang from SUES is the only one who won the first prize.

The National Metallographic Skills Contest for College Students is a national competition with the highest professional standards, the most complete system, the widest coverage with most influence. The contest adopts the form of promoting teaching, reforming and learning through competitions. It aims to improve curriculum construction through competitions, promote the reform and innovation of practical teaching of Materials Engineering in colleges and universities, and improve the ability to analyze organization of material and metallographic skills of college students. As a result, students will enhance the application ability of knowledge and practical capability, develop their ability to integrate theory with practice, and continuously improve the quality of student training in the major of Materials Engineering.
