At 7:00 p.m. on June 3, the 2024 Graduation Show of School of Textiles and Fashion was held at 800 Show in Jing’an District of Shanghai. The Graduation Show witnessed more than 120 sets of excellent works of the undergraduates from the program of Clothing and Apparel Design, and the models who participated in the show were all the students of the program of Performance from the School, which showed the teaching and learning achievements of the two programs in an all-round way.
SUES President Yu Tao attended the Show and delivered a speech. Liu Boying, Deputy Director of Shanghai Cultural and Creative Industries Office, Zhang Zhan, Director of Shanghai Promotion Center for City of Design, Wang Yichuan, Executive Director of China Art Museum and other guests; Shi Kesheng, Vice President of Shanghai Film Art Academy, representatives of industry-academia cooperation enterprises of School of Textiles and Fashion, leaders of industry associations and other sister colleges and universities as well as part-time tutors outside the school attended the Show and provided high praise.
The Graduation Show was divided into two parts.
The first part of the Show demonstrated the design works of the undergraduates from the program of Clothing and Apparel Design, with the theme of “Time-Space Labyrinth”, which revealed the audience a fashion journey through the past and the future, reality and fantasy.
The second part of the Show demonstrated the design works of the undergraduates from the Clothing and Apparel Design (Sino-French Cooperation Program). With the theme of “The Green Reality of Science Fiction”, the graduation designs of the Sino-French Cooperation Program were based on the following three dimensions: “The Green Ecology of Science and Technology”, “Science Fiction is Real” and “The Pure and Real World”, exploring the issues of science and technology, ecology, environment and society.
Although the two design themes have different perspectives, they coincide in terms of design thinking. Using their four years of study, the students skillfully wove together history and future, tradition and innovation, art and technology, and the real and the unreal to create a series of striking graduation works. These works are not only the design of the clothing themselves, but also the students’ thinking about time, exploration of space, and expression of themselves.
