The 2020 International Cruise Research Alliance & Education Alliance Summit Forum held at SUES

On the afternoon of November 19th, the 2020 International Cruise Research Alliance & Education Alliance Summit Forum, hosted by Shanghai University of Engineering Science (SUES) and Shanghai International Cruise Economic Research Center was successfully held at SUES Changning Campus. This forum focused on two major themes: Enhancing the Research Resources of Cruise Ships; Making Joint Efforts to Build a High-quality Cruise Industry, Focusing on the Training of Outstanding Cruise Talents, Leading the New Pattern of Cruise Economy.



At the forum, the launching ceremony of the Annual Report on Chinese Cruise Industry (2020) (Green Book) was held, which is an annual research report accomplished by outstanding experts and scholars in the cruise industry at home and abroad organized by Shanghai University of Engineering Science and Shanghai International Cruise Economic Research Center. The green book summarizes the development and future trends of China's and the world's cruise economy from 2019 to 2020 and analyzes the impact of COVID-19 on the development of cruise economy, port development, construction of pandemic prevention system, consumer behavior of cruise tourists, and innovation of cruise economic policy, etc, in-depth. It also analyzes and judges the strategic positioning and path innovation of the whole industrial chain development of China's cruise economy to serve the upgrade of the cruise industry and the high-quality development of national and local economies.

At this forum, Professor Qiu Ling continued to publish the Cruise Economy Development Prosperity Index of China and Asia on behalf of the research group to accurately judge the cruise economy prosperity of China and Asia. SUES is the first university in China to offer a Bachelor's degree in cruise economy, leading the development of international cruise talent training.

To discuss new methods, new situations, and new trends of cruise talent training in the post-epidemic era, the Young Leaders Forum was themed Focusing on excellent cruise talent training, leading a new pattern of cruise economy, covering topics such as Cruise talent team-building under the normalization of the epidemic, Localized training mode of cruise design and construction talents, and Revitalizing cruise economy, cultivating talents for the situation.



The participants discussed how to broaden the growth channel of human resources in the cruise industry, to improve the training system of cruise talents, to create a highland of excellent young talents for cruise ships, and to inject a continuous impetus for the development of the cruise economy.

The forum was successful in promoting the cruise program of SUES. The disciplinary advantages and team vitality of the cruise program, and the model leading role of talent training were further highlighted.
