On the afternoon of October 28th, SUES and the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons, Switzerland held the 2024 Sino - Swiss Joint Management Committee Meeting for Cooperative Education. All members of the joint management committee of the two universities attended the meeting, which was chaired by SUES Vice President Xia Chunming.
President Yu Tao and President Jürg Kessler of the Swiss side attended the meeting via video link. President Yu Tao fully affirmed the educational achievements of the Sino - Swiss cooperative education project in the past ten years. He, firstly, congratulated the successful hand-in-hand cooperation between the two universities in the past decade. Then he expressed his gratitude to President Jürg Kessler and the Swiss team for their great contributions. Finally, he expected that under the leadership of the new president of the Swiss side in the future, the cooperation between the two universities could expand from merely in vocational education to include undergraduate education, extend from specific areas to a broader scope, and achieve more fruitful results in the future.
President Jürg Kessler will officially retire at the end of this year after serving as president of FHGR for 21 years. He was very grateful for President Yu Tao’s enthusiastic support, shared the future development strategy of FHGR and wished the two universities to continue to work together to promote the vigorous development of the Sino - Swiss cooperation project.
Vice President Xia Chunming pointed out that the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons is constantly strengthening its core competitiveness, which aligns with SUES’ pursuit of excellence. FHGR’s strategic layout in innovation-driven development, regional economic development, and the health sector development echoes SUES’ advantages and development needs. He looks forward to the future cooperation between the two sides to achieve even greater achievements, and to make unremitting efforts to cultivate international talents and promote educational development.
The President of School of Higher Vocational Education, Zheng Shubin, the Director of Studies at the Swiss Institute of Tourism and Leisure, Patric Arn, and the Director of the Sino-Swiss Joint Program in Tourism, Thuc Lan Tran, respectively reported on the details of the Sino-Swiss joint program in 2024, from such aspects as student situation, financial budget, curriculum adjustment, teacher exchange, and teaching quality management. A series of consensuses were reached between the two sides.
