On March 12, A delegation led by the Center for International Economic and Technological Cooperation Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, accompanied by representatives from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Belarus, visited SUES. The delegation was received by Li Jiang, Chairman of the University Council, and Xia Chunming, SUES Vice President.
Li Jiang extended a warm welcome to the delegation and provided an overview on SUES’ characteristics and strategic vision. He emphasized that SUES has consistently adhered to the philosophy of open education, placing high value on developing multi-level and wide-ranging educational cooperation with Belt and Road countries including Belarus. SUES looks forward to collaborating with UNIDO and Belarusian universities in areas such as innovative industry-education integration, AI-empowered specialty clusters, intelligent manufacturing discipline development, and cultivating entrepreneurial education ecosystems, etc.
Xia Chunming chaired a symposium between the delegation and SUES faculty representatives, underscoring shared opportunities in advancing educational quality, scientific research innovation, and industry-academia partnerships. Farrukhbek Alimdjanov, Industrial Development Officer of UNIDO’s Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence Division, engaged in discussions with faculty and students on industrial sustainability and digital industrial upgrading, showcasing UNIDO’s global initiatives in these fields. Viktor Pashkevich, Vice Rector of the Belarusian-Russian University, shared insights into his institution’s educational strengths and proposed collaborative opportunities with SUES, sparking enthusiastic dialogue among attendees.
During their visit, the delegation toured SUES laboratories specializing in artificial intelligence, railway transportation, aviation transportation, and cruise management. Both parties conducted in-depth discussions on student-faculty exchanges, joint research programs, and international industry-academia collaboration, etc.
The delegation comprised representatives from Center for International Economic and Technological Cooperation Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, UNIDO, the Ministry of Economy of Belarus, the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee, the Mogilev Free Economic Zone, the Belarusian-Russian University, Mogilev Technology Park, and innovative enterprises. As the only university in Shanghai visited by the delegation, this visit holds significant importance for deepening practical cooperation in education between SUES and Belt and Road countries. It will strengthen interactive exchanges, promote the international development of industry-education integration, and further advance the implementation of SUES’ Open Cooperation strategy.
