From May 17 to 29, a delegation of nine faculty members and students from Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) visited SUES to participate in a two-week summer exchange program. Since forming a partnership in 2017, the two universities have seen their collaboration flourish—particularly in academic exchange and faculty-student interaction—laying a solid foundation for continued success.
The program was jointly coordinated by International Office and College of International Education. Fashion design and academic support courses were provided by School of Textiles and Fashion, while College of International Education organized cultural experience activities. Students from both countries participated in garment-making classes, where they honed their skills and built friendships through teamwork. Together, they explored innovative practices in textile and fashion design.
Apart from academic work, the British delegation immersed themselves in a rich array of Chinese cultural activities.College of International Education offered classes on Chinese painting and Peking Opera facial makeup, and organized a special immersive event themed around the Dragon Boat Festival. These activities showcased the charm of traditional Chinese culture. The classroom atmosphere was lively and interactive, and both students and faculty from the UK found the experience deeply rewarding.
Since 2018, students from School of Art and Design, School of Textiles and Fashion, School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, and School of Urban Railway Transportation have taken part in undergraduate exchange and summer industry-academia collaboration programs at LJMU. This reciprocal visit from LJMU not only highlighted the outcomes of ongoing cooperation but also expanded the platform for academic and cultural exchange, fostering interdisciplinary development and international talent cultivation. Looking ahead, SUES and LJMU aim to broaden and deepen their collaboration, jointly promoting high-quality international education and driving the development of both universities.
