On June 4th, SUES College of International Education held a cultural immersion activity titled “Exploring Songjiang’s Cultural Heritage” for undergraduate international students, taking them on a tour around Songjiang Museum and Fangta Park to experience the unique charm of Shanghai’s historical roots.
At the Songjiang Museum, students explored the region’s evolution as an ancient Jiangnan (lower Yangtze region) prefecture through a rich collection of cultural relics, detailed exhibits, and textual materials. From bronze ware and porcelain to calligraphy, paintings, and folk-art displays, they gained an up-close appreciation of the depth and breadth of traditional Chinese culture.
Later, the group visited Fangta Park, where they admired the harmonious blend of ancient architecture and classical landscaping. As one of Songjiang’s landmarks, the historic Fangta (literally Square Pagoda)—with its centuries-old legacy and exquisite structure—sparked keen interest among the students. They listened attentively to their instructors’ explanations, asked questions enthusiastically, and captured memorable learning moments through photographs.
This visit not only provided international students with a vivid understanding of China’s history and culture but also ignited their curiosity to delve deeper into Chinese civilization. Through on-site exploration and immersive experiences, they broadened their perspectives and laid a solid foundation for their future academic and life experiences in China.
