SUES Brings Dragon Boat Festival Closer to International Students

On May 30th, College of International Education of SUES hosted a Dragon Boat Festival fair themed Joyful Tour at CIE: Living the Chinese Cultural Experience. Students from around the world gathered to explore the customs of the festival and experience unique charm of traditional Chinese culture.


The event combined cultural aquisition with hands-on participation. In preparation for the festival, students researched its origins, customs, and traditional games. Their findings were displayed in posters, showcasing their strong interest in and positive attitude toward Chinese culture.



At the fair, each class set up booths featuring traditional games such as pitch-pot (ancient Chinese game where chips are thrown into a pot), hopscotch, and shuttlecock kicking. Students particitaed enthusiastically, enjoying the festive atmosphere. They also made scented sachets and tasted various kinds of zongzi (sticky rice dumplings wrapped in reed leaves), gaining a deeper understanding of the festival through personal experience.


This event blended language learning with cultural experience, inspiring international students’ interest in and identification with Chinese culture.
