From July 7 to 10, the 2025 National Finals and Awarding Ceremony of China College Student Mechanical Engineering Innovation and Creativity Competition (MEICC)-Casting Process Design Contest were successfully held on SUES Songjiang campus. The event was organized by Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and hosted by SUES, the Foundry Institution of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, and Shenyang Research Institute of Foundry Co., Ltd. under China National Machinery Research Institute Group. This year’s competition attracted 1,548 submissions from 159 universities, with a total of 5,461 students participating. School of Materials Science and Engineering was responsible for organizing the event.

Attending the Awarding Ceremony were Secretary of the CPC SUES Committee Li Jiang, Vice President Xia Chunming, Vice Chairman of the Foundry Institution of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society Zhai Qijie, Project Director of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society Zhang Zhen, leaders from relevant industry associations in Shanghai, officials from the Yangtze River Delta G60 Sci-Tech Innovation Corridor Joint Office, competition judges, participating faculty and students, heads of relevant SUES departments, and leaders from SUES School of Materials Science and Engineering. The ceremony was presided over by Liu Hongchao, Secretary-General of the Foundry Institution of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society.

Li Jiang extended a warm welcome to all the leaders and guests attending the ceremony. He stated that the MEICC, as a key event organized by Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, aligns closely with SUES’ industry-education integration philosophy, providing students with a valuable platform to combine theoretical knowledge with practical application. He encouraged students to take this competition as an inspiration and maintain their passion for casting technology, continue learning, and dare to innovate, while keeping in mind their mission and responsibility to contribute to the development of China’s foundry industry and the goal of building a strong manufacturing nation.

SUES and MAGMA (Suzhou) Software Technology Co., Ltd. were awarded the “Special Contribution Award for Hosting Institutions”.

The competition awarded 69 first prizes, 74 second prizes, and 306 third prizes.
