The 13th National College Students Optoelectronic Design Competition - BAIANTEK Cup Eastern Regional Finals was successfully held at SUES from July 11th to 13th. A total of 260 teams from various universities in the East China region participated in the competition, setting a new record for the number of participating teams.
The opening ceremony was held on the morning of July 11 at the Second Lecture Hall of the Information Center. Vice President Xia Chunming delivered a welcome address, introducing the development progress of both the University and relevant academic schools. He encouraged participating students to uphold the spirit of scientific innovation, take the lead in technological advancement, and contribute to social progress. Finally, he expressed his wishes for all teams to demonstrate outstanding performance, demonstrate both technical excellence and competitive spirit, and achieve excellent results.
The competition comprised two main challenges. For the Laser Combat for Smart Vehicles event, teams were tasked with developing autonomous vehicle systems featuring independent perception, decision-making, and tactical capabilities. These smart vehicles conducted laser-based engagements in a designated arena using specialized transmitters and receivers, putting students' integrated skills in optoelectronic technology, automatic control, and algorithm optimization to the test. The Non-Destructive Optical Measurement of High Aspect-Ratio Micro-Hole Parameters competition required teams to apply their knowledge of photoelectric sensing, laser applications, and intelligent control systems, demonstrating both technical mastery and innovative thinking. Throughout the event, competitors methodically calibrated equipment and optimized their solutions, with several groups introducing groundbreaking optical detection approaches and novel laser control techniques - clear evidence of today's university students' problem-solving abilities and hands-on engineering skills.
In the awards ceremony, 65 teams won first prizes, 81 took second prizes, and 91 received third prizes. 16 universities received Outstanding Organization Awards, while 37 instructors were honored with Outstanding Advisor Awards. SUES claimed 2 first prizes, 6 second prizes and 10 third prizes, while also earning the Best Organization Award for its outstanding event coordination. Three SUES instructors were honored as outstanding advisors.
