SUES special advisor to president and life-time distinguished professor Zhu Gaofeng was awarded Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Achievement Award

On May 30, the 16th General Assembly of the Chinese Academy of Engineering was held in Beijing. Zhu Gaofeng, special advisor to president of SUES and life-time distinguished professor at SUES, was awarded the 14th Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Achievement Award.


The Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award is regarded as the highest award in China’s engineering field, and it is given out once every two years. Since the first award was given in 1996, Only eight scholars have been honored with the Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Achievement Award since it was first presented in 1996. These honorees include notable figures in the fields of engineering science and technology such as Zhang Guangdou, Shi Changxu, Zhu Guangya, Pan Jiazheng, Qian Zhengying, Zhong Nanshan, Xu Kuangdi, Peng Shilu, and others.



Introduction of Zhu Gaofeng: Academician Zhu Gaofeng is an expert in China's communication technology and engineering management, a native of Shanghai, who studied in the Physics Department of Tsinghua University from 1951 to 1952. After that, he earned an Engineering degree from the Leningrad Institute of Telecommunication Engineering of the former Soviet Union in 1958. He bacame an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1994 and served as the first executive vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering from 1994 to 2002. He was engaged in communications network engineering and scientific research from 1970s to 1990s, and made significant contributions to China's break through an international barrier and the development of the communications industry. Now, he mainly focuses on strategic consulting research on industrial development and educational career development of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. In 2019, Academician Zhu Gaofeng was appointed as special advisor to the president of SUES, life-time distinguished professor, and honorary director of Engineering Education Development Research Center.
