International Summit on "Frontier Issues in Social Security" and the 13th Shanghai Postgraduate Academic Forum were held at SUES

From November 5th to 6th, the International Summit on Frontier Issues in Social Security and the 13th Shanghai Postgraduate Academic Forum were successfully held at SUES. The event was launched by Shanghai Academic Degrees Committee, Shanghai University of Engineering Science and China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), and organized by School of Management Studies of SUES, Shanghai Research Center for Social Security Issues, CEIBS Research Institute of Social Security and Pension Finance, and Development Research Center of Shanghai Municipal People's Government - Government Public Decision Support Research Base at SUES. Present in the event were Prof. Yu Tao, President of SUES, Mao Lijuan, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Shu Jinlong, Director of Higher Education Division and Director of Degree Office of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Prof. Wang Hong, Dean of CEIBS, Prof. Shi Jianyong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of SUES, and Prof. Wang Yansong, Vice President of SUES. Also attendant in the forum were more than 20 domestic and foreign experts from Peking University, Renmin University of China, Zhejiang University and other universities and relevant departments, as well as representatives of young teachers and master's and doctoral students from universities across the country. Centering on common prosperity and the high-quality development of China's social security system, the forum is conducted in a combination of online and offline modes.


Based on the important statement of General Secretary Xi Jinping on common prosperity and the report of the 20th CPC National Congress, which proposes to improve and complete the sustainable multi-level social security system that covers all people, integrates urban and rural areas, stays fair, uniform, safe and standardized, this forum actively implements the appeal of Postgraduates Education Innovation Program proposed by the Office of Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and the Department of Degree Management and Graduate Education of the Ministry of Education. It aims to deepen the reform, continuously explore and adapt to the objective requirements of postgraduate education in the new situation, and comprehensively improve the quality of postgraduate education.



Prof. Yu Tao, President of SUES, delivered a welcome speech. On behalf of the University, Prof. Yu Tao welcomed the leaders and experts, and introduced the history of SUES, its purpose and running patterns, and its overall strength and impact. He extended his hope that this academic forum could become a professional platform for young scholars and postgraduates of social security to exchange ideas, provoke academic thoughts, and promote the innovative development of social security theory.



Mao Lijuan, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, delivered a congratulatory speech for the academic forum. Director Mao Lijuan affirmed the significance of the Summit Forum on social security frontier issues, saying that it was closely related to the requirements of the 20th National Congress Report on the construction of social security system, and hence was very realistic and relevant. The forum also provided the most cutting-edge academic exchange platform for experts and postgraduate students, and promoted the research of social security-related disciplines to a higher level.



Shu Jinlong, Director of Higher Education Department and Director of Degree Office of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission announced the winners of the first, second and third prizes of excellent papers of the forum.

Nine experts and scholars made keynote presentations on common prosperity and high-quality development of China's social security system.



The forum set up three sub-forums for young experts on pension insurance and pension finance, medical insurance and health management, and digitalization and social security. Young scholars and participants shared their latest research results and thoughts in high spirits. The all-around discussion and full exchange of their ideas about hot issues revolving around social security ignited the academic atmosphere.



The forum received a total of over 150 academic papers from scholars of more than 40 universities in China, including Xiamen University, East China Normal University and Nanjing University. After the evaluation by the academic committee of the forum, a total of 61 papers were awarded, among which 3 were awarded the First Prize, 8 were awarded the Second Prize, 10 were awarded the Third Prize, and 40 were awarded Excellence. On November 6, the forum held four postgraduate sub-forums, namely, the special forum on pension insurance, the special forum on pension service, the special forum on medical insurance and health management, and the special forum on social welfare and social assistance. Postgraduates from various universities across the country shared their latest research results on related topics, exchanged in-depth thoughts on the high-quality development of social security system, and collided with sparks of wisdom.
