On October 28, the Railway Engineering program of School of Urban Railway Transportation successfully completed the online inspection of ASIIN international professional certification from Germany. Expert members of ASIIN's certification inspection team, Vice President Xia Chunming, heads of relevant departments such as Academic Affairs Office, Quality Office, Presidents’ Office, Foreign Affairs Office, Personnel Office, Finance Office, Student Affairs Office, heads of School of Urban Railway Transportation and relevant faculty attended the certification inspection feedback meeting. The meeting was moderated by Yanna Sumkötter, ASIIN project manager.
On behalf of SUES, Vice President Xia Chunming expressed his heartfelt thanks to the experts of the German expert group for their hard work and careful guidance over the past three days. He said that SUES will take this international professional certification as an opportunity, adhere to the core concept of student-centered, result-oriented, and continuous improvement, continuously strengthen the top-level design, continue to improve the talent training program, effectively improve the quality of undergraduate talent training, and strive to achieve high-quality and connotative development of education and teaching at SUES. According to the opinions and suggestions of the expert group, SUES will carefully study and formulate plans to continuously strengthen its relevant programs construction.
Professor Haldor Jochim gave feedback on the preliminary findings on behalf of the expert group. He highly praised the performance of the Railway Engineering program in this evaluation process, and fully affirmed the professional education philosophy, laboratory basic conditions, student training quality and teaching management system. He praised that the Railway Engineering program has special characteristics in the interdisciplinary cooperation, and has established a good foundation for industry cooperation with enterprises, and has sent a large number of outstanding graduates to the industry. He proposed three points of continuous improvement in the program construction: first, adjust the flexibility of the professional module design; second, increase the curriculum construction of programming languages; third, clarify the standards of students' oral examinations and the transparency of project construction, and promote the cultivation of students' international vision and industry-university cooperation projects.
It is reported that during the three-day online inspection meeting, the ASIIN expert group held 7 symposiums with relevant departments of SUES, program leaders, faculty members, relevant representatives of students and alumni, and relevant representatives of enterprises. In-depth discussions were conducted on professional development, faculty, international cooperation, teaching characteristics, training goals, curriculum structure, quality management, examination organization, teaching documents and their transparency, graduate competitiveness, and school-enterprise cooperation.
The ASIIN international certification inspection of Railway Engineering ended perfectly with the unity and high cooperation of the relevant functional departments and the School.
