On November 27, the 2022 Yangtze River Delta International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application was opened in Shanghai. It was sponsored by Ministry of Education and the People’s Governments of Shanghai, Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province, Anhui Province and Shandong Province. Many celebrities attended the conference: Weng Tiehui, member of the Party Group and Vice Minister of Ministry of Education, Zheng Huiqiang, former Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress and President of Shanghai Service Federation, Wang Ping, Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Wu Guoqiang, Deputy Director of National Center for Schooling Development Programme, Miao Jing, Secretary of Shanghai Chongming District Party Committee, Yang Zhenbin, Secretary of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Party Committee, Lin Zhongqin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, John Hopcroft, recipient of Turing Award winner, academician of the American Academy of Sciences/Engineering /Arts and Sciences and foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the heads of Sino-German Friendship Association, German Association for the Promotion of Education and Science and Technology, German Chamber of Commerce in China and representatives of more than 20 well-known entrepreneurs domestic and abroad. Chen Qun, Deputy Mayor of Shanghai, and Shi Mingde, President of Sino-German Friendship Association, and other guests delivered speeches via video. Yu Tao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of SUES, and Xia Chunming, Vice President of SUES, were invited to attend the opening ceremony and related activities.
The year 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany. Ministry of Education, together with the local governments and universities of the Yangtze River Delta, German Chamber of Commerce and German companies in China, have jointly established the Innovation Consortium of Sino-German Industry-Education-Research-Application. At the opening ceremony, the Unveiling Ceremony of the Consortium Secretariat and Demonstration Base was held and the action plan was released. SUES, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Shenzhen Polytechnic were awarded the title of “Innovation Consortium of Sino-German Industry-Education-Research-Application Demonstration Base” as representatives of application-oriented institutes, research universities and polytechnic colleges respectively. Wang Ping, Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, and Yu Tao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of SUES, jointly inaugurated the Innovation Consortium of Sino-German Industry-Education-Research-Application Demonstration Base. The future construction of the base will also focus on accurately grasping the new opportunities of the new round of information technology and industrial transformation, further strengthening the University’s opening to the outside, deepening Sino-German international cooperation, making full use of the resource advantages of Sino-German Friendship Association, German Chamber of Commerce in China and Sino-German Alliance of Enterprises and Education, realizing the effects of technological innovation, achievement transformation, industrial incubation and talent gathering, and promoting the development of the Innovation Consortium of Sino-German Industry-Education-Research-Application and the integration of industry and education and the establishment of model universities for collaborative education based on the integration of industry and education.
In the roundtable forum titled “Strategy, Practice, Challenges and Future of Integration of Industry and Education”, Xia Chunming, SUES Vice President, was invited to give a keynote speech on Inheriting the Gene of “Integration of Industry and Education”, Creating a Model of Application of Integration of Enterprises and Education, and conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions with the experts and scholars, introducing the historical accumulation and inheritance development of cooperative education of SUES, as well as the exploration and practice of actively integrating into the “integrated economic development of the Yangtze River Delta” and building a “community of shared future for the integration of industry and education”. Taking the construction of modern industrial college and “micro majors” as examples, he deeply explained the effective measures of SUES in promoting the high-quality development of cooperative education.
It is reported that the International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry-Education-Research-Application is a large-scale series of conferences set up by relevant relevant provinces, regions and cities, with participation of universities, enterprises, research institutes in various countries, which has strongly promoted the development of integration of industry, education, research and application both domestic and abroad.
