SUES students achieved outstanding results in 2023 Mathematical Contest in Modeling/ Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (MCM/ICM)

Recently, the results of the 39th Mathematical Contest in Modeling/ Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (MCM/ICM) were announced. The team supervised by Chunlin Li, a faculty member of School of Foreign Languages, won two first prizes (Meritorious Winner) and five second prizes (Honorable Mention) in the competition. It is reported that the percentage of the first prize (Meritorious Winner) is 7%.

 


Using its advantages of foreign language major to foster students’ innovation and entrepreneurship, School of Foreign Languages directed students to participate in the MCM/ICM, which is a valuable endeavor to train students across disciplines. The competition team is composed of students from different majors, and the competition calls for modeling and programming skills and requires all-English papers. This helps students majoring in the liberal arts develop their mathematical innovation skills while helping students majoring in science and technology improve their ability to write papers in English. It also boosts students’ comprehensive quality, including teamwork spirit, international horizons and so on.
