On June 2-3, the 2023 International Conference on Optimization & Statistics and Their Applications was held on Songjiang Campus of SUES. The purpose of this conference was to strengthen the cross-integration of optimization and statistics studies, exchange the latest research achievements in the theory, algorithm and application of related fields, understand the latest progress in the related frontier fields, and promote the communication between domestic scholars and international optimization and statistics experts. The conference was hosted by SUES, undertaken by School of Mathematics, Physics and Statistics of SUES, and co-organized by the Operations Research Society of Shanghai. More than 120 experts, scholars, teachers and postgraduates from universities at home and abroad participated in the conference offline and online. Prof. Wang Guoqiang, Dean of School of Mathematics, Physics and Statistics, chaired the event.
Guests invited to the conference included Prof. Kok Lay Teo, Associate Dean of School of Mathematical Sciences, Sunway University, Malaysia, also a John Curtin Emeritus Professor, Curtin University, Australia; Prof. Lin Haixiang, Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands; Prof. Tao Jiyuan, Loyola University Maryland, U.S.A.; Prof. Su Zhihua, University of Florida, U.S.A. Other participants were senior experts, young scholars and postgraduates from nearly 20 universities at home and abroad, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Beijing Jiao Tong University, Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands, and University of Florida, United States.
The successful holding of the conference has provided a high-level academic sharing platform for the experts, young scholars and postgraduates of optimization and statistics and other disciplines to promote exchanges and cooperation, to carry out extensive academic exchanges, and to focus on showing the disciplinary frontier and development trends of optimization and statistics in the era of big data and artificial intelligence under the rapid development of digital economy. It has effectively promoted the cross-integration and development of optimization and statistics studies in SUES, as well as the development and construction of the discipline.
