From August 9th to 15th, the 2023 Qichuang Vision Cup National Intercollegiate Training Camp for College Students took place in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. The event was organized with guidance from Ministry of Education's Engineering Training Teaching Steering Committee, sponsored by Ministry of Educations Virtual Teaching and Research Section of Engineering Maker Education, and hosted by Xian University of Technology. Around 200 students from various universities nationwide, including Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Xi'an Jiao Tong University, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, took part in this event. Six students from the Engineering Training Center of SUES, who had been selected earlier by the organizing committee, attended the week-long on-site training camp under the supervision of professors He Zhimao and Chen Yang. Additionally, President Chen Hao from the Engineering Training Center visited the camp to offer guidance.

This training camp had a primary focus on nurturing comprehensive engineering innovation consciousness, fostering an innovative spirit, and developing practical innovative abilities of college students. To achieve these goals, a variety of educational and practical activities were organized. During the camp, participating college students embarked on field research visits to Xi'an Ming and Qing Shadow Play Art Museum, as well as Xi'an Jingdiao Precision Machinery Engineering Co., Ltd. These visits provided hands-on experiences and insights into technical training, quality development, and the production of shadow puppets within the Silk Road International Creative DreamWorks. One distinctive aspect of this immersive program was its integration of traditional culture and modern technology, particularly in the context of shadow puppet production and mechanical arm applications. This approach aimed to blend and preserve traditional cultural heritage while embracing modern technological advancements. Li Shuangshou, Director of the Virtual Teaching and Research Section of Ministry of Education's Engineering Maker Education and Director of Tsinghua University's Fundamental Industry Training Center, emphasized that the training camp's unique feature was its interdisciplinary approach, bringing students from various universities and fields of study together. It effectively merged Silk Road intangible culture with engineering maker education, emphasizing the principles of creative transformation and innovative development to ensure the enduring preservation of cultural heritage.

With the attentive guidance of their dedicated instructors, students from SUES joined forces with their peers from other universities. Together, they ignited their innovative thinking and practical skills, effectively bridging the gap between traditional culture and modern science and technology.
