On the afternoon of September 19th, Shanghai University of Engineering Science (SUES) held the 2023 Joint Management Committee Meeting of International Institute of Creative Design(IICD) with Kongju National University, South Korea and Dongseo University, South Korea. Yu Tao, President of SUES, Xia Chunming, Vice President of SUES, Lim Kyeongho, President of Kongju National University, South Korea, and Chang Jekuk, President of Dongseo University, South Korea, attended the meeting. Members of the Joint Management Committee, including heads of relevant functional departments and schools of the three universities, were also present at the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Vice President Xia Chunming.
At the meeting, President Yu Tao firstly expressed gratitude to the three universities for their hard work in the process of founding the International Institute of Creative Design and then wished that the three universities, just like a triangle, would always maintain the most solid cooperation. Meanwhile, he put forward three expectations for the future cooperation among the three universities and the development of IICD: The first is to enhance the consensus, harmony and win-win situation, by further strengthening the cooperation among the three universities, grasping the development opportunities together to create a community of shared destiny for cooperation and development. The second is to expand channels and implement the agreement through further opening channels of cooperation among the three universities with the full implementation of the operational mechanism of the Institute, selecting competent forces into running to solid implementation of the established content of cooperation. The third is to build a platform and create the future together. The three universities’ resource advantages, innovation advantages and competitive advantages will be transformed into common cooperation advantages and development advantages, and International Institute of Creative Design will be built into an international, innovative, leading and application-oriented regional first-class design institute with the mission of the times, global vision and traditional characteristics.
President Lim Kyeongho expressed his gratitude to SUES and Dongseo University for their efforts in the establishment of IICD. He expressed that through the integration of cutting-edge industries, IICD cultivates integrated professionals and specialized digital designers, researches on latest cultural technologies, discovers new concepts of educational processes, and aims to enhance the growth engine of knowledge-based industries and international professional design and technical talents, and to cultivate professionals that can be applied to the future of mobile communication technologies and the all-round talents of industrial design. Kongju National University will work together with the other two universities to promote the continuous development of the International Institute of Creative Design.
President Chang Jekuk indicated that International Institute of Creative Design is a valuable achievement of the three universities based on long-term mutual trust and has received world-class acclaim in the field of education. The institute will nurture competitive talents through advanced collaborative education programmes. He hoped that the three universities could communicate with each other and share their quality education achievements based on mutual trust, pragmatism, innovation, and the concept of “To persue practical innovative artistry; To promote elegant harmonious diversity”. Dongseo University will work closely with the other two universities to provide students with the highest level of education and make great contributions to the friendly development of the two countries.
The Joint Management Committee also voted on the adjustment of the members of the Joint Management Committee of IICD, reviewed the recent work of the IICD and the working plan for the next year, listened to the work report by Prof. Kim Chongki and Prof. Kyung Byungpyo, deans of the Korean side, and conducted in-depth communication on the detailed operation of IICD.
