On September 13, the Opening Ceremony & Orientation Session for International Students enrolled in Fall 2023-2024 Chinese Language Program of College of International Education was held at the lecture hall of SUES Changning Campus. The ceremony was hosted by Li Yuewen, Vice Dean of College of International Education. All teachers and newly enrolled international students of CIE on Changning Campus participated in the event.

Wang Qin, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office and Dean of College of International Education, thanked all students for choosing SUES and welcomed them. She made a brief introduction of the University and the College, hoping that through the platform of CIE, international students can learn Chinese language, acquaint with Chinese culture, and integrate into the Chinese society. She also expressed her wishes that the trip to SUES can become a fruitful journey and a memorable experience in their lives.

In the Orientation Session, Fang Fang from College of International Education introduced the University’s majors and regulations, semester arrangement and activities, student insurance, visa policy and other necessary information, and gave the students a lecture on safety-related issues.

RACHEL FARIAS MAGALHAES from Brazil spoke as an outstanding student representative. She said that the education in SUES is neither restricted within the classroom, nor limited to book studying. Rather, it can be carried outside the classroom, into the Chinese society. CIE provides international students with a range of opportunities to learn the Chinese language, practice what they have learnt, and experience the Chinese culture. As long as they are willing to, international students can take every opportunity to learn, to experience, to feel the Chinese culture. Yan Qiwen spoke on behalf of the Chinese language teachers. She said that no pains, no gains, and encouraged the new students to work hard to learn Chinese well.
