On October 25th, Robbyn Wacker, President of St. Claude State University, United States, and his delegation visited SUES. Vice President Xia Chunming received the visiting guests at Room 204 of the Administrative Building, together with SUES heads of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, School of Management Studies, and School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering.
Vice President Xia Chunming warmly welcomed the delegation and pointed out that Saint Claude State University is one of SUES’ most important partners, with a 17-year history of cooperation. This was President Wacker’s second visit to SUES since 2018, which indicated the importance that St. Claude State University placed on the cooperation. We are confident in restarting the cooperation as soon as possible after the epidemic. Vice President Xia Chunming proposed three expectations for the future of the cooperation. Firstly, he hopes that the cooperation can inherit the long and successful history of cooperation between the two universities. Secondly, he hopes that cooperation can develop towards a more diverse and deeper level. Thirdly, he hopes that both sides can establish a close cooperation and exchange mechanism to ensure the healthy development of cooperation.
President Robbyn Wacker expressed her special gratitude to SUES for their warm reception. She appreciated the rapid changes that SUES had made in the past five years. She stated that despite the negative impact on international exchanges between the two sides during the epidemic, progress and achievements have been made in disciplinary construction, scientific research development, and industrial cooperation. She particularly pointed out that in the complex and ever-changing international environment, higher education serves as a bridge for cross-cultural exchange. She believes that based on the solid foundation of cooperation and the professional accumulation of both sides, the cooperation will be better in the future.
SCSU Associate Vice President of Center for International Studies Shahzad Ahmad introduced specific suggestions and ideas for future cooperation between the two universities, and hoped to take this visit as an opportunity to further expand the scope of cooperation and explore new forms.
At the meeting, Hu Bin, Dean of School of Management Studies, introduced the main achievements in recent years, and proposed cooperation suggestions for both sides in AACSB certification and MBA talent cultivation. Wang Dazhong, Vice Dean of School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, also introduced the achievements in recent years from the perspectives of academic program construction, talent cultivation, and international cooperation, and proposed the possibility of cooperation in faculty exchange, scientific research, and other aspects.
The delegation visited SUES laboratories to gain a deeper understanding of teaching and research. We believe that with the joint efforts, the cooperation will achieve more substantive results and make positive contributions to the prosperity and development of both sides.
