Deputy Vice Chancellor Chris Rawson of Curtin University, Australia Visited SUES

On October 23, Curtin University Deputy Vice Chancellor Chris Rawson and his delegation visited SUES, Vice President Xia Chunming greeted the guests. The two sides discussed the prospect of future cooperation. Relevant personnel from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, School of Materials Science and Engineering, and School of Mathematics and Statistics attended the meeting.



Vice President Xia Chunming extended a warm welcome to Deputy Vice Chancellor Chris Rawson and his delegation, and introduced the academic characteristics, international education and achievements of SUES in recent years. He pointed out that SUES has been adhering to an open educational concept, and looks forward to deepening the cooperation between the two universities in faculty and student exchanges, in scientific research, and in talent training and other aspects through this meeting. Moreover, it is expected that through this meeting, both sides can work to create more international education and exchange opportunities for faculty and students, and promote further development of cooperation between the two universities.



Deputy Vice Chancellor Chris Rawson, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and introduced Curtin University’s history and features. He mentioned that Curtin University ranks among the best in various world rankings, has strong academic ability in business, engineering, philosophy, medicine and other fields, and has excellent faculty and research strength. He looks forward to working with SUES to provide a wider range of academic resources and mutually beneficial exchange opportunities for both faculty and students.


At the meeting, Wang Qin, Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, introduced the status quo of SUES in terms of international exchange. Li Wenyao, Vice Dean of School of Materials Science and Engineering, and Wu Jianbao, Vice Dean of School of Mathematics, Physics and Statistics, respectively introduced the basic situation of the schools, and discussed the cooperation of undergraduate joint training and exchange, doctoral joint training and various short-term exchange projects in multiple fields like engineering, business, statistics, literature and others. In addition, the two sides also exchanged opinions on the possibility of faculty research cooperation and joint application for intergovernmental projects.


This meeting has brought new cooperation opportunities for the two universities, which will help both sides to cooperate closely in various fields in the future, and create more cross-cultural academic experience and development opportunities for faculty and students.
