SUES Students of School of Urban Railway Transportation Once Again Won the First Prize in the National Structure Design Contest for College Students

On October 29, “Beitou Cup” 16th National Structure Design Contest for College Students was successfully concluded at Changsha University of Science and Technology. A total of 119 teams from 118 universities, including Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, participated in the three-day contest. Guided by Yan Xilin, a teacher from School of Urban Railway Transportation, and composed of Zhuo Shengxian, Chen Lei and Cheng Hanyu, the team of SUES stood out and won the national first prize for the second consecutive year for its innovative design and exquisite model making. At the same time, SUES won the “Excellent Organizing Award of 2023 National Structure Design Contest for College Students”.

 


The National Structure Design Contest for College Students is one of the nine funded projects of discipline competitions jointly approved by Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance for the first time. The contest is co-hosted by the Engineering Education Committee of China Association for Higher Education, the Professional Steering Committee of Civil Engineering Discipline of Colleges and Universities, the Education Committee of China Civil Engineering Society, and the Department of Environment and Civil Water Conservancy of the Science and Technology Committee of Ministry of Education. The contest is organized by universities in turn, and co-sponsored and co-organized by social enterprises. Following the “3C” competition objectives of Creativity, Cooperation and Construction, the competition principles of being “Just, Fair and Open”, and the competition concepts of “showing talent, enhancing ability, cultivating cooperation, enjoying the process”, the contest is hailed as “the brightest pearl in the crown of civil engineering”. According to statistics, a total of 581 universities with 1463 teams participated in the regional contests.

 


This award is a demonstration of the teaching and scientific research achievements of School of Urban Railway Transportation, and also an affirmation and display of the comprehensive quality training of students at SUES. Relying on the advantages of civil engineering disciplines, SUES will continue to train high-quality applied civil engineering talents with innovative consciousness and practical engineering ability for the country in the field of structure design.
