Unveiling Ceremony Held for Alabaster Statue of Confucius Donated by Alumnus Tian Minge

On the afternoon of October 28 which was around the 45th anniversary of the founding of SUES, unveiling ceremony was held in front of Teaching Building C for an alabaster statue of Confucius donated by Tian Minge, a graduate of School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, president of Shandong Alumni Branch, and chief executive of Scientific Green (Shandong) Environmental Technology Co. Ltd. Yu Tao, President of SUES and Tian Mingge attended the event. Wang Jiajie, Director of the President's Office, Yu Rong, Secretary of the CPC Committee of School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, Fan Zuoxun, Deputy Director of the Infrastructure Office, and more than 50 representatives of the faculty and students of School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering participated in the event.



During the ceremony, President Yu Tao and alumnus Tian Mingge unveiled the statue of Confucius together.



Yu Rong stated that Confucius’ thoughts are extensive and profound, and that the educational concepts advocated by Confucius, such as “tailoring the instruction to the student’ needs”, “combining learning and thinking”, “teaching benefits teachers as well as students”, etc., are still relevant and important to today’s education. He hoped that students will take this opportunity to set their heart on becoming new generation of the times, with rich professional knowledge and noble moral character.
