SUES Celebrates 45th Anniversary: Advancing Quality Industry-Education Integration Conference Held

On October 28, a grand conference was held at Zhihong Hall to celebrate the 45th anniversary of SUES, with a focus on the integration of industry and education for high-quality development. The event was presided over by Li Jiang, Secretary of the CPC SUES Committee.




Chen Mu, a primary inspector from Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, highlighted the unwavering commitment of SUES to its mission as an applied university over the past 45 years in his address. He emphasized SUES' consistent dedication to fostering university-industry collaboration, a vital driver of talent support for Shanghai's thriving economy and society. Shanghai Municipal Education Commission reaffirmed its steadfast support for SUES in its ongoing journey of growth and development.



Cheng Xiangmin, Secretary of the CPC Songjiang Committee, conveyed three key messages to the audience in his speech. First and foremost, he emphasized the unwavering commitment to the new development concept. Secondly, he underscored the importance of placing a significant focus on the seamless integration of education, science, and talent development. Finally, he called upon everyone to unite in translating the concept of urban development into tangible actions that enhance the well-being of the people. This, in turn, would expedite the construction of a high-quality modern Songjiang, infused with elements of science, technology, culture, and ecology.



Li Wei, Vice President of Dong Hua University, expressed in his speech the hope that in the future, the two universities, being neighbors, could further deepen their cooperation in various fields and at more advanced levels. This extended to strengthening exchanges and mutual learning in talent development and academic discipline enhancement, all with the shared goal of advancing high-quality development.



Sheng Biao, Deputy Director of Safety at China Eastern Airlines Group, Vice Chairman of the China Airline Pilots Association, and Captain of Boeing 777, expressed his eager anticipation in his address. He looks forward to jointly establishing a new model for cultivating applied talents that will support high-quality development of China's civil aviation industry with the university. This collaboration aims to collectively promote the integration of education, science, technology, industry, and talent development in China.



Yan Jianjun, an alumnus from the 1984 class of the Computer and Automatic Control program, and Chairman of ZETA Holding Group Co., Ltd., as well as Chairman of Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational And Technical University, expressed in his speech that as an entrepreneur and education investor, he deeply understands the significance of -industry and education integration in talent development. He pledged to continue contributing to SUES' development in the future.



Yue Tao, President of SUES, stated that during the past 45 years, SUES has witnessed generations of dedicated SUESers making significant contributions to the socioeconomic development of both the country and the region. Looking ahead to the next 45 years, SUES is committed to pioneering innovative approaches to applied education, meticulous strategic planning, and cementing its role as a leader in the realm of applied universities. SUES will continue to uphold an open-door policy, extensively drive the fusion of education and science, foster collaborative partnerships with local industries, and harness the power of synergy. Furthermore, the university will place a strong emphasis on establishing a global cooperation platform and fortifying international exchanges.



On its 45th anniversary, SUES received heartfelt congratulations from sister institutions and partner companies, both from home and abroad. These greetings came in various forms, including video messages, congratulatory letters, and telegrams.



At this conference, a ceremony was held to launch the strategic collaboration between industry and education. SUES attracted prominent enterprises to jointly embark on this strategic collaboration, collectively pioneering a new era of industry-education integration.



During the conference, a series of high-level industry-education integration platforms were officially established. SUES collaborated with the Songjiang Economic Development Zone and CHINT Group to jointly establish the first batch of municipal-level industry-education alliances. Additionally, partnerships were formed with China Unicom, iFlytek, and Shanghai Nokia Bell to establish the 5G+Artificial Intelligence Modern Industry Institute, while a collaboration with Shanghai Shentong Metro Group led to the creation of the Urban Railway Transportation Modern Industry Institute.



SUES is dedicated to leading a new approach to cultivate exceptional engineers within an applied university setting. As part of this initiative, SUES has established the SUES College of Outstanding Engineers. Furthermore, in cooperation with People's Government of Songjiang District, SUES has jointly created The G60 Sci-tech Innovation Corridor College of Outstanding Engineers.



Over the years, SUES has received generous contributions from friends and supporters across society, which have provided a significant impetus for its development. During the event, Shi Jianyong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC SUES  Committee, joined Vice Presidents Wang Yansong and Xia Chunming in presenting letters of gratitude to representatives of the donating companies, expressing their appreciation for the companies' support in advancing SUES' growth.





Mei Guojian, SUES' extraordinary professor and Chinese Ceramic Design Art Master, made a priceless artwork to mark SUES' 45th anniversary, accompanied by his best wishes. Additionally, donations of 10 million RMB each were contributed to the university's Education Development Foundation by China Higher Education (Beijing) Technology Group and Shanghai Jing'an Real Estate Co., Ltd.



Leading up to the anniversary, events such as the 2023 Sino-German Industry-University-Research Collaboration Seminar and the 2023 Global Partnership Week set the stage for the celebration. On the day of the anniversary, SUES hosted a symphony concert, an alumni family day, unveiled a statue of Confucius, and presented an exhibition highlighting educational achievements. Additionally, various colleges and departments across the university organized over sixty vibrant and diverse anniversary activities. As the evening of the anniversary arrived, the Warmly Celebrating SUES' 45th Anniversary message illuminated the G60 Sci-tech Innovation Cloud Corridor  and the Citigroup Tower on the Bund sending heartfelt birthday wishes to SUES.
