On October 14, the 2023 Conference on Sino-German Industry-University-Research Cooperation was held. President Yu Tao, Vice President Xia Chunming, Liu Zhimin, Director of the Innovation Development Department of the National Center for Schooling Development Program (CSDP), and presidents, vice presidents and heads of functional departments from more than 90 universities including Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University and University of Shanghai for Science and Technology attended the conference. The conference was chaired by Liu Zhimin, Director of Director of the Innovation Development Department of CSDP.
On behalf of SUES, President Yu Tao expressed his sincere welcome and gratitude to the guests. He pointed out that SUES has always attached great importance to the industry-university-research and application cooperation with Germany, and set up the Sino-German Institute of Industry-Education Integration Development last year, which is dedicated to the research of application-oriented university cooperation with Germany. The core of this conference is to create an exchange platform and build a resource pipeline. As the chairman of the International Cooperation Alliance of Sino-German Universities of Applied Science and Technology, President Yu Tao put forward three hopes for the development of the alliance: firstly, for the development of application-oriented universities, the members of the alliance should work to realize joint construction and resources sharing; secondly, all members should make full use of the platform of the International Cooperation Alliance of Sino-German Universities of Applied Science and Technology to promote communication, exchange and integration; thirdly, for the upcoming international Cooperation Action Plan of the Sino-German Universities of Applied Science and Technology, the member universities of the alliance should work together to achieve the effectiveness, efficiency and effectiveness of the action.
At the meeting, the secretariat of the Sino-German Industry-University-Research Innovation Consortium issued the Action Plan for International Cooperation Among the Sino-German Universities of Applied Science and Technology. Luo Peng, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Tang Ming, deputy director of the Sino-German Institute for Integrated Development of Industry and Education of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, jointly made a keynote speech entitled Focusing on Global Vision, Promoting Internationalization - taking Shanghai Jiao Tong University as an Example; Xia Chunming, Vice President of SUES, delivered a keynote speech entitled Focusing on Sino-German Cooperation and Promoting the Construction of a High-level University of Applied Science and Technology. Feng Xiao, Chair of the Faculty Committee of the Sino-German School of Engineering at Tongji University, and Chen Qi, Dean of the Sino-German School of Engineering at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, shared examples of Sino-German cooperation projects and institutional construction. Zheng Shubin, Dean of SUES’ Higher Vocational College, carried out the theme report of professional international certification; Gui Lin, Deputy Dean of the Graduate School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, introduced the construction of SJTU’s National Tech Elite Institute of Technology. At the Presidents’ Roundtable Forum and Symposium, various universities conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges focusing on the construction elements and paths of the Sino-German Institute of Engineers.
