The event was wonderful and colorful, including the opening ceremony, new book launch, Chuiwan performance, academic seminar and other activities. Professor Mei Guojian presented a book to President Yu Tao and relevant leaders of Shanghai Pudong Government, representing the cooperation between Shanghai and Henan, and their joint commitment to the promotion and inheritance of traditional ceramic art in modern society.

Vice President Zhu Xiaoqing expressed in her speech that SUES will further deepen the cooperation with Master Mei Guojian, establish a Shanghai ceramic design studio led by Professor Mei, and promote the in-depth exchange and development of a series of ceramic workshop activities.

This exhibition is a valuable exploration and attempt of SUES in industry-education integration. The exhibition, carefully planned and designed by Professor Wu Yasheng’s design team, aims to demonstrate the profound heritage of China’s ancient porcelain Chuiwan and the artistic beauty of modern ceramic balls in modern art language and form. The design team of teachers and students from IICD also designed the exhibition spaces such as “Chuiwan Universe” and “Chuiwan Corridor” in a spatial narrative approach, realizing the integration and collision of traditional culture and modern design, which was also highly appreciated and recognized by the audience. In the future, IICD will continue to promote the inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese culture, and cultivate more design talents with international vision and innovative spirit.
