On November 26th, the first China Graduate Beautiful China Innovation Design Competition concluded in Jiande, Hangzhou. The competition was hosted by China Association of Degree and Graduate Education, under the guidance of the Degree Management and Graduate Education Department of Ministry of Education. This competition is a newly added competition in China Graduate Innovation Practice Series, and is also the only national level competition specifically designed for graduate students majoring in design in the series. The competition aims to comprehensively present and promote the new era of Beautiful China and to tell exciting Chinese stories. 5943 graduate students from 304 universities and research institutes across the country, totaling 15559 teachers and students, submitted a total of 5567 works focusing on four professional tracks: environmental space design, clothing and apparel design, industrial product design, and media communication design, as well as the customized track of Jiande Municipal Government.127 teams from 63 universities advanced to the finals after completing four rounds of competition, including online preliminary and expert assessment, online selection, final roadshows, and final rounds. 76 SUES teams participated in the competition. Teams from School of Art and Design and International Institute of Creative Design won 6 third prizes nationwide, and SUES won the Excellent Organizational Award.
The leaders of the Graduate Office, School of Art and Design, and International Institute of Creative Design attached great importance to this competition and actively organized graduate students to participate. The participating teams showcased the practical actions of young students in building a beautiful China through their creative designs and imaginations. In the future, SUES will continue to promote education through competitions, continuously deepen the integration of industry and education, further strengthen the cultivation of graduate students' practical innovation ability and social responsibility, and promote the aesthetic education.
