SUES Students Made A New Breakthrough in the 2023 “FLTRP•National Gifted Cup” National College Student Foreign Language Proficiency Competition(English Group)

On December 5, the 2023 “FLTRP•National Gifted Cup” National Student Foreign Language Proficiency Competition, with the theme of “Understanding Contemporary China”, concluded in Beijing. Xu Ziyang, a student from School of Air Transportation (School of Flying) at SUES, who is majoring in Flight Technology, achieved a silver medal in the English speech competition, marking a remarkable breakthrough for SUES. Furthermore, Gao Yanning, a teacher from School of Foreign Languages, was honored with the Silver Award for Outstanding Guidance Teacher.

 

Xu Ziyang won the championship in the campus competition held on October 10 and clinched the gold medal in the Shanghai municipal competition on November 4, hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, earning him the qualification to advance to the national competition. On December 5, in the extemporaneous speech segment of the national competition’s second stage, 150 participants explored topics such as the “Export of New Energy Vehicles”, “Rural Revitalization”, “Cultural Heritage Inheritance”, “Shared Courtrooms”, and “Ecological Protection”. Participants approached these societal hot topics from diverse perspectives, demonstrating a keen interest in social development, deepening their understanding of the Chinese spirit and strength, nurturing patriotism, and expanding their international horizons.

 

The “FLTRP•National Gifted Cup” national English series competitions have been consistently recognized for six consecutive years in the “National General College Student Competition Rankings” released by China Higher Education Association. In 2023, the competition has been upgraded to the “FLTRP•National Gifted Cup” National College Student Foreign Language Proficiency Competition, with the theme of “Understanding Contemporary China”.
