SUES Held the Launching Ceremony and Presentation of the 2024 Student Overseas Study and Exchange Programs

SUES held the launch ceremony and presentation for the 2024 Student Overseas Study and Exchange Programs on the afternoon of December 21, in order to advance the implementation of the international development strategy, cultivate talents with an international perspective, understanding of international rules, and the ability to participate in international affairs and competition. Vice President Xia Chunming attended the event and delivered a speech. Officials from the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Student Affairs Office, Academic Affairs Office, Graduate Affairs Office, External Relations Office, Youth League Committee, teachers from various schools, and more than 300 students from different SUES schools participated in the event. The meeting was presided over by Wang Qin, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office.



During the opening ceremony, Vice President Xia Chunming encouraged the students to bravely step out of the campus and explore the world beyond borders, meet interesting teachers and friends from around the world, and experience folk cultures of different countries. He also urged the students to discover their own capabilities while learning academic knowledge, enhance their language expression and cross-cultural communication skills, and contemplate the path ahead for their future studies and lives.


Li Cong, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, provided a detailed introduction on the projects and application procedures for the 2024 student overseas exchange and study programs. In 2024, SUES will provide a total of 109 types and forms of overseas study and exchange programs, including master’s double degrees, bachelor’s double degrees, credit recognition, and graduation projects. These programs involve more than 110 partner institutions in over 20 countries, such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Russia, and others.


Chen Yijun, a student who participated in the credit recognition program at the University of California, Santa Barbara, shared his experience and gains from studying abroad in the United States and offered advice to fellow students interested in overseas study and exchange programs. A. A. M. Muzahid, a foreign teacher from School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, delivered a fascinating presentation based on his own experiences, covering the definition of international perspective, the significance of students with international perspective, and how to develop such a perspective.



During the session on the policy introduction for the 2024 student overseas study and exchange programs, Liu Keyan, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office, He Yuelei, Deputy Director of the Graduate Affairs Office, Wang Lu from the External Relations Office, and Li Cong, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office explained the credit conversion for undergraduate and graduate students studying abroad, international education-industry cooperation projects, and the specific funding policies for the student overseas study and exchange program.


From now until March of next year, the International Cooperation and Exchange Office will conduct consultations and registration for the 2024 student overseas study and exchange programs. The International Cooperation and Exchange Office will collaborate with various functional departments and schools to ensure the smooth implementation of the overseas programs.
