International Institute of Creative Design Won Gold Award of the 2023 Future Designer International Innovation Design Awards

On December 24th, UNESCO announced the winners of the first 2023 Future Designer International Innovation Design Awards (IIDA) & Science for SDGs Innovation Contest on its official website. Under the guidance of Xu Rongrong from International Institute of Creative

Design (IICD), her second-year postgraduates of Art and Design Liu Mengjiao, Jin Shanshan, and Li Yihan won the Gold Award with their work Su Hes White Horse. The work centers on science and technology empowering sustainable development. Using smart wearable devices, the work combines science and art to promote sustainable production and innovation of consumption modes, which fully demonstrates the creativity and innovation of the faculty and students of SUES.


The 2023 Future Designer International Innovation Design Awards (IIDA) & Science for SDGs Innovation Contest, hosted by UNESCO and IIDA Committee, solicited innovation and creative works to prompt and advocate the important role of Science, Engineering and STEM in SDGs from young people around the world, helping young people broaden their global perspective and promoting SDGs. The contest was launched in June 2023 and closed on October 15, with nearly 1,500 teams from 48 countries and regions submitting entries. NCDA (National College Digital Art & Design Awards) was the only selection competition in China. Entries that won the first and second prizes in 2023 11th NCDA were eligible to participate in IIDA. After the preliminary selection, a total of 228 entries entered the final round, resulting in 83 awards, including 25 Gold, 29 Silver and 29 Bronze.



With the characteristics of Sino-foreign cooperatively-run educational institution, IICD’s Chinese teachers, foreign teachers, and corporate mentors with rich industry experience co-teach and guide students practice and professional learning in the field of design. Thanks to their course teaching research and practice, teachers and students of IICD have won more than a hundred awards for various scientific researches and academic achievements as well as domestic and international professional competitions in recent years.
